Ben Rodgers, MBA ’08

As a student at McCombs, Ben Rodgers, MBA ’08, benefitted first-hand from alumni who decided to remain connected to the school. “I really appreciated the involvement of alumni when I was a student, and so I feel I need to do the same,” says Rodgers, who is the new alumni class co-president. In that position, he will be a liaison between the McCombs School and his classmates, helping to foster support for professional development opportunities for alumni as well as current student programs. McCombs accounting junior Ricky Berens won a gold medal in the 4x200m freestyle at the Olympic games Aug. 12 in Beijing. Read more.


Global Moot Corp Winners Open NASDAQ

Winners of the 2008 Global Moot Corp Competition hosted by The University of Texas at Austin opened the NASDAQ stock market Friday, Aug. 15 in New York City. Rob Adams, director of the Moot Corp program and management lecturer did the honors along with NeuroBank, the team of MBA students from Carnegie Mellon University which won the global champion prize May 5 in Austin. Chris Pendergrass, MBA ’08, Named President of Presco Products
This announcement follows Pendergrass’ 10 year career at Presco Products. Presco Products was founded in 1943 by owner Waymon McMackin’s grandfather, Robert “Earl” McMackin. The company extrudes PVC film and manufactures outdoor marking products in its two facilities in Sherman, Texas.

The classes of 1998 and 2003 will celebrate their 5- and 10-year reunions in Austin Sept. 19-21. Activities include an awards celebration, pre-football game luncheon at the school and farewell brunch at Stubbs.
