 McCombs Named Top MBA School for Hispanic Students
Hispanic Business magazine named McCombs the top business school for Hispanic MBA students for 2008 in its annual rankings. “The University of Texas at Austin’s close proximity and long standing relationship with Latin America creates an ideal atmosphere at the McCombs School of Business for Latinos and Hispanic Americans, who annually make up six to eight percent of the full-time MBA program,” the magazine states.  Bigfoot and Dell Partner on Gaming PC Bigfoot develops network cards designed to offer a smoother and faster gaming experience. Dell plans to offer the technology as an option on their gaming desktops. Bigfoot was founded in 2004 by evening MBA alumni Harlan Beverly, ’04; Bob Grim, ’05; and Mike Cubbage, ’05. Their team won the Texas Moot Corp. in 2005 and secured a $100,000 investment for their company. Read the Statesman article.
Shari Carle, MBA ’03, Featured in Austin Business District Magazine
Shari Carle was on the September cover of Business District. The Austin magazine featured Carle’s sustainability efforts with Dell during the past four years. Carle is currently the executive director of the Carle West Group. Read the article. Read related material.

The conference will feature “Hot Topics in Business” and will include presentations and facilitation by distinguished UT and McCombs School professors. Read more.
MBA Poker Championships, Las Vegas, Jan. 16-18, 2009 The McCombs MBA Card Club invites alumni to the MBA Poker Championships. Students and alumni from top MBA programs will attend. Please contact Carter Rabasa, Card Club Co-President and Entrepreneur Society President, if you plan to attend. He is organizing a networking session for alumni and students at the welcome reception on Friday at 7 p.m. “Last year I shared a table with a Columbia and Harvard Business School MBA—both were Texas BBAs. That was a really valuable networking experience. I noticed Chicago and Wharton in particular had a large contingency of MBA alumni playing in the tournament. I’m hoping to raise awareness about this event so McCombs alumni will return annually,” says Norman Tang, Card Club Co-President and Graduate Business Council President.

 Dr. William W. Cooper and Sara Martinez Tucker Named Presidential Citation Award Recipients The University of Texas at Austin selected McCombs faculty member William W. Cooper and Sara Martinez Tucker, MBA ’79, to receive the prestigious Presidential Citation for 2008. The Presidential Citation was created in 1979 to recognize the extraordinary contributions of individuals who personify the University’s commitment to the task of transforming lives.
