Elizabeth Fenton, who just graduated from McCombs with a BBA in finance, with a focus on real estate and marketing, can add National Award winner to her resume. During her senior year, Elizabeth participated in the National L’Oreal Marketing Competition, and her team, Dynamunique, took first place. Team Dynamunique was formed when Elizabeth and her friend Laura Miller, an advertising junior, met Johannes Walker, a marketing student, at an information session.
The competition involved a pre-case cross-market and consumer analysis. Elizabeth’s team developed a product called Body Avantage, a long-term body care product with anti-aging and collagen enhancing benefits. Body Avantage was unique in that its target consumer was the age 25 and up group, which is significantly lower than most anti-aging products.
The team spent a “Day of Discovery” learning about the process of product development at Lâncome, a subsidiary of L’Oreal, and worked with the advertising firm Publicis to create professional advertising and marketing strategies and materials.
Next step for Team Dynamunique? The International Competition in June in Paris, an opportunity that Elizabeth is excited about.
"This has been a tremendous opportunity for me to put the different marketing theories I've learned into practice," said Elizabeth. "I look forward to taking our project to the International finals and hopefully winning on behalf of the United States and The University of Texas. Hook 'Em Horns!"
Following the competition, she will spend time touring Europe, visiting Prague and Budapest in addition to Paris. She received University Honors her junior and senior years as well as a David Ewing Scholarship.
