Notification Now Being Delivered to Individuals Affected by Data Theft

The University has notified by e-mail or by letter those whose information was contained in the compromised databases at the time of the recent data theft with details about what personal information was accessed. If you believe you were in the affected group of business school affiliates and have not been contacted by e-mail or by letter, it is possible the University does not have your correct contact information. If so, please take a moment to fill out the form at the McCombs Contact site.

    MBA Class of 2006 Breaks Leave A Legacy Record David Chen
    This year, in honor of David Lee Chen—a second-year MBA student who passed away in January—the MBA Class of 2006 dedicated all donations to the Leave A Legacy Campaign to the David Lee Chen Memorial Graduate Fellowship. The campaign was a huge success—the MBA Class of 2006 raised the most money with the smallest class in Leave A Legacy's 10-year history, a grand total of $129,070! The gift will result in an annual scholarship of up to $7,500 awarded to a full-time, second-year MBA student in good academic standing, who has notably enriched the lives of his or her classmates and substantially contributed to the McCombs community.     The Student and Significant Other Network (SAS) at the McCombs School of Business is a group formed by spouses and partners of recently relocated MBA students at McCombs.     Carnegie Mellon Team Takes $100,000 Prize at 2006 Global MOOT CORP®
    A non-invasive diagnostic device claimed the top prize at the 23rd annual Global MOOT CORP® Competition at The University of Texas at Austin May 5-6. NeuroLife Noninvasive Solutions, created by a team of MBA students from Carnegie Mellon University, beat out a wide range of business ideas that included a martial arts TV channel, an environmentally friendly rat-control device and a cattle inventory system, along with other medical products in the areas of multiple sclerosis, viral infections and skin cancer.  Get the full story.

    University of Texas at Austin Conference Addresses Corporate Governance for Early-Stage Companies
    The University of Texas at Austin's IC2 Institute, School of Law and the Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship hosted a major conference on corporate governance for directors and officers of early stage companies on Thursday, May 25, at The Houstonian Hotel in Houston.     Gary Hoover has been described as the world's most creative entrepreneur, not only for the business ideas he generates and pursues, but also for his methods and teachings. Launching new MBA initiatives that will enhance the educational experience of MBA students, this fund is unique in that a committee of students, alumni, and MBA program office staff will work together to determine optimal usage of the funds.

    Search for a job or promote employment opportunities to both current students and alumni of the McCombs School of Business.  This year alone, students have gotten jobs or internships via the job board at the following companies:  Bank of America, Chevron, Con Agra, Dell, FedEx, GE, Global Financial Services and Pro Logis.

    Current job openings include Director, Strategy or Innovation at Circuit City; Marketing Associate at Nestle USA; Product Manager at Microsoft; VP, Production Finance at Countrywide Bank and a Director position at Revlon.

    Both the McCombs MBA Alumni Directory and the McCombs Job Board are accessible through your UT EID (University of Texas Electronic Identification).
